Best Beauty Trends at the 2012 Met Ball

Summer is in full swing but at this year's Costume Institute Gala it was apparent that Hollywood is already diving into fall. Taking place tonight in New York City, the 2012 Met Ball red carpet was flooded with vampy, wine-colored lipsticks. Celebrities such as Kate Bosworth, Camilla Belle (left), Lana Del Rey, and Amber Valletta flaunted deep mulberry lip stains. Also joining the dark lipstick brigade? Rachel Zoe, Jessica Alba, Jessica Chastain, and Leighton Meester all sported bold plum shades.














The gothic makeup at the 2012 Met Gala may have been shocking, but the hair perfectly complemented the summer season -- loose and wavy! Actresses Julianne Hough, Amy Adams, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Hilary Swank (bottom, left) let their hair hang long with brushed-out bohemian waves. Glee actresses' Dianna Agron and Lea Michele both featured the messy wave texture in their undone faux bobs. While stars with shorter cuts such as Emma Roberts opted for simple chin-length retro curls.
