Kate Hudson's been tearing up the red carpet at the Venice Film festival over the last few days, promoting her new movie "The Reluctant Fundamentalist." And of all the celebrity looks we bookmarked this week, this one was our favorite. Her makeup is sexy and dramatic without being too much, and her hair is pulled back in a way that's both simple and elegant.

If you want to try Hudson's bronze smoky eye at home, the key is finding the right shimmery (but not too shimmery) shadow. We recommend Almay Wake Up Eyeshadow + Primer in Exhilarate, $8.99. Use the lightest shade as highlighter under your brows and the darkest metallic all over the lid and underneath. Then, use an angled brush to line your eyes with the rich plum color. Finish off the look with mascara, neutral blush and your favorite pale pink lip gloss.

As for the hair, celebrity hairstylist David Babaii created Hudson's updo and said he drew inspiration from the idea of a Venetian goddess. He worked with her natural wavy texture and pulled her hair back into a chignon at the nape of her neck. And of course he used hairspray to hold it in place.

Is this a look you'd try for a night out?
