As an acne-prone gal with sensitive skin, you can understand my hesitation with face oils. But as I become more interested in skin care (read: as I get older), I'm beginning to appreciate the silky texture and powerful ingredients you get with an oil.
This new oil-based serum from Clarins is a doozy. It has 20 (!) plant extracts that moisturize, stimulate collagen, protect against environmental damage, and more. It comes in a double-barreled chamber (one side contains a water-based formula and the other is oil based), and when you pump it the two formulas combine for the most potent mixture possible.
Clearly, there's a lot going on in this little bottle, but I wondered how it would work on my skin. I gave it a pump and attempted the signature Clarins application method (press it…

"OZ the Great and Powerful" has a cast full of gorgeous starlets (enter Michelle Williams and Rachel Weisz), so Mila Kunis gets extra props for being crowned Look of the Week. The actress stunned on the yellow carpet at the film's London Premiere with a makeup look was sexy yet feminine.
To get the look, makeup artist Tracey Levy started by making Kunis's skin flawless. She prepped skin with Laura Mercier Foundation Primer, $32, and followed up with Laura Mercier Oil-Free Suprême Foundation in Sunny Beige, $43. Then she applied Laura Mercier Crème Cheek Colour in Praline, $24, onto the actress' cheeks.
To create soft grey lavender smoky eyes, Levy dabbed Baked Eye Colour in Silver, $23, onto the middle of Kunis' lids, then smudged Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Amethyst, $24, into…

I love quizzes. (A recent gem was "Quiz: Taylor Swift Song Or Self-Help Book?" on Buzzfeed.) And now, through quizzes, L'Oréal has tapped into our inherent love to learn more about our favorite topic: ourselves. Their new interactive website is great for anyone who wants to find personalized beauty products in a few clicks.
There are several different "consultations" (translation: interactive beauty quizzes) for face makeup, eye makeup, skin care, hair care, and hair color. Being a mascara-loving kind of gal, I gave the eye makeup consultation a try. The coolest part of the consultation is selecting your makeup style: Am I "fashion forward," "glamorous," "bohemian," "sensuous", "girly", "edgy", "natural", "romantic', "alternative", "sophisticated" or "classic"? (I decided I'm…

Right now we are in the midst of some major decisions for the 2013 Total Beauty Awards. Editors are holding heated debates about which new mascara is truly the best and what eye cream should take home the top prize. All of us have at least one category (or five or seven) they feel truly passionate about. For me, it's Best New Nail Polish, and I'm pushing Jin Soon all the way.
If you're wondering why, then obviously you haven't tried the New York City nail guru's collection. The lacquers are toxic chemical-free, go on silky smooth, and --here's the big thing -- they actually last for a full 7 days without chipping.
Oh, and did I mention the colors are really gorgeous? Especially the new spring Botanical Flowers collection, which launches this March. "I wanted to do brights that…
