We Made the Impossible Happen: 7 (Work-Appropriate) Days of Glitter Makeup

I'm a firm believer that there is no bad time or place to wear glitter. So when Urban Decay's Bondage Weightless Makeup Adhesive landed on my desk, I pronounced that I would wear it (and the Heavy Metal Loose Glitter it works with) every single day if I could. And thus, a challenge was born.   read more

Got Freckles? You're Probably Making These Makeup Mistakes

For anyone, finding the perfect foundation shade is about as easy as following a rainbow to its end. Add freckles to the mix and, well, you might as well be looking for a leprechaun and pot of gold, too. You're faced with issues like whether you should match your foundation to your freckles, to the rest of your face or to some shade halfway between the two. Then, there's the question of coverage: Should you completely cover them? If you don't want to conceal them, will your freckles look strangely muted? The list of questions goes on and on, making it easy to give up on makeup altogether. So we turned to Katie Jane Hughes, makeup artist and Global Colour Ambassador for Butter London, and Los Angeles-based celebrity makeup artist Taylor Babaian to answer all our questions about applying makeup to freckled skin.   read more

11 Sexiest Swimsuits You Need Now (But Can't Have 'Til Next Year)

Note to self: start working on my abs now, because next year's swimsuits just showed at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week: Swim in Miami, and they're looking as itsy-bitsy as ever. 10 Powdered Cleansers for Glowy Skin

Some powders, like those found in envelopes circa 2001, make us want to run in the other direction. Others, like the new class of exfoliating face cleansers, make us want to dive into a vat of it, face-first (and emerge softer, smoother and glowier than ever).   read more

Amazing Lipstick Looks for Dark Skin

Choosing a lipstick that works with dark skin tones can feel like a challenge. It may seem easier to stick to the plum and berry shades you know look fantastic with your complexion, instead of worrying about whether you can pull off an orange lip. (Spoiler alert: you definitely can.) But makeup --and lipstick especially, in our opinion -- should be fun, and more about what makes you feel gorgeous than sticking to a set of rules. In fact, celebrity makeup artist Nick Barose says that color-wise, lipstick options are practically limitless for dark-skinned women. We got his tips on how to wear any lipstick color with a dark complexion -- think vibrant violets, dreamy nudes, bold reds that work day and night and even an on-trend ombre look that's surprisingly easy to pull off.   read more

Makeup That Even Your Irritable, Super-Sensitive Eyes Will Love

They balk at eyeliner and tear up at the sight of eye shadow. And don't even think about going near them with mascara. If you've got sensitive eyes, chances are you have a love/hate relationship with your eye makeup. Sure, that cult-classic mascara may get you bold, beautiful lashes, but if it's causing your eyes to flip out, it just isn't worth it. So we enlisted the help of New York-based optometrist Dr. Dori Wolf, who sees patients with swollen, red, itchy and flaky eyes on the daily (she estimates that around 35 percent of her patients have these symptoms), She spilled her tips on the makeup that won't send your eyes into a tizzy. But before we even get into the cosmetic side of things, her first recommendation: Pop a daily omega-3 fatty acid supplement (otherwise known as fish oil). It reduces inflammation in the body and, in turn, help keep eyes moistened and comfy.   read more
